Calhan, Colorado has a population of just under 800 people. Tiny by most standards, and many might think too small to have their own library, but those 800 people, like any other community, depend on the resources that only a library can provide.

Happily, PPLD does have a Calhan Branch! Located one block north of Highway 24, on the corner of Denver and Bank, the library also boasts a small section inside dedicated to the Friends Bookstore. The Calhan Friends gather and sell gently-used books to the public. The books are affordably priced with paperbacks going for $.50 cents and hardcovers for only $1.00. Proceeds from these sales go towards helping the library purchase items that would not otherwise fit in their budget.

Visitors are encouraged to come by and visit their little "bookstore". Their shelves offer a variety of options from fiction and non-fiction to cookbooks and children's books. They are also seeking feedback from their patrons as to what kind of books they would like to see on the shelves.

Donations are accepted by the box or the bag. Simply bring donations by the library during operating hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday 9am-6pm. Note: Closed Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
