Celebrating 70 Years
This year marks a remarkable milestone for the Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District — 70 years of friendship, advocacy, and community support. Since 1955, the Friends have been dedicated to strengthening the library’s role as a cornerstone of lifelong learning and connection. What began as a small group of passionate supporters has grown into a vibrant network that continues to enrich lives across the Pikes Peak region. As we gather for our 70th Anniversary Annual Meeting, we are delighted to welcome P.J. Anderson, local author of Cheyenne Mountain: Here’s Looking at You. His engaging work captures the essence of our region’s past and reminds us that history is more than memory — it’s a lens through which we see who we are and where we’re headed. Through his storytelling, Anderson reveals how the mountain that watches over us has shaped not only our landscape but our identity and sense of place. Just as Cheyenne Mountain stands as a steadfast symbol of our community, the Friends of the Library have stood firm in their mission — preserving stories, supporting knowledge, and creating opportunities for connection. Our shared history reminds us that the strength of a community lies in the people who nurture it, one chapter at a time. As we celebrate seven decades of service, we invite you to reflect on how history continues to shape our present and inspire our future. Together, let’s honor the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to many more years of friendship, learning, and shared purpose.
Keynote speakers and 2025 Golden Quill winners, P.J. and Patrick Anderson will share about their journeys as writers. This event is being held at Library 21c in the Venue.
