The Pikes Peak Library District has 14 branches (including the mobile library) that serves the Pikes Peak Region. The Friends are an active part of the branches; ensuring the staff, volunteers and libraries receive much needed resources and support.
Here's what's up with the branches!
Volunteer of the Year 2023
DeeAnn Brown of the Ute Pass Branch Library was recognized during the Annual Meeting as the 2023 Volunteer of the Year. DeeAnn is a Chipita Park resident and has been the president of the Ute Pass Friends since 2015.
"I was speechless," she said upon learning she had won this prestigious award. "I consider the Ute Pass Library to be a hidden gem in our area. Patrons have free access to books, eBooks, audio books, DVDs, magazines, adult, teen and children's programs, genealogy resources, computers and more."
The Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District are so grateful for DeeAnn and the many other Friends volunteers that represent the array of branches.
Cheyenne Mountain Branch
During National Library Week, several of the branch libraries hosted Open Houses to provide library cards for new patrons and food and fun for all.
At the Cheyenne Mountain Branch, there was food, games, crafts, free books (courtesy of the Friends) and even masterful performances from one of Velvet Hills Chorus' quartets.
Fountain Branch
Friends of the Fountain Branch library have sprung into spring with their beautiful, colorful shelves full of fun, adventure, mystery, romance and so much more! Come find your next good read here!
Penrose Branch
The open house for the Penrose Branch library was an extra special one as it coupled as a grand re-opening of the library itself. Penrose was closed for several weeks as the district made functional changes to the layout of the library. If you haven't seen the new changes, swing by to take a look!
